Our Beers

Great Day for Hay - Lemon-Lime Summer Shandy - (Summer)

Description:

Great Day for Hay is a hefeweizen with lemon and lime notes. Hefeweizen is a German-style, wheat-based beer. It is a light, crisp beer that uses hops to mellow out how strong the wheat flavor comes through. It utilizes lemon and lime peels during the brewing process to get its distinct lemon-lime flavor. This beer is sure to make you wish the summer was back.

Story:

Popular up in the Great White North, the saying “it’s a great day for hay” can be heard as the warmer weather kicks in and the hibernation subsides. The saying implies, the weather is beautiful and you should get after it, so grab one of these crisp lemon-lime summer shandys as you get after your summer. It’s a Great Day for Hay!

The Great Dame - Raspberry Blonde Ale - (Spring, Summer, Fall)

Description:

The Great Dame utilizes a very basic blonde ale as a base in order to let it's true colors shine through. Raspberries are placed in both the primary and secondary fermentation to give the beer both its taste and color. This beer is both refreshing and light while insuring that the raspberry flavor is not overpowering. The Great Dame is best enjoyed on a hot summer day.

Story:

Crafted to commemorate the 60th birthday of the Great Dame (or Mother Gnome), this beer pays homage to the Great Dame’s sun-soaked summers performing on waterskis. The raspberry additions to this brew add almost as much flare as the Great Dame’s waterskiing prowess. Due to its popularity, we welcome this new summer staple to our family brews.

Poisy Ivon - Amber Ale - (Spring, Summer, Fall)

Description:

This Amber Ale is a light-bodied beer with a distinct malty sweetness and some hoppiness to balance out the flavor. This beer is crafted for those seeking a little more bite than a lager, but also a little less bitterness than an IPA. It is the perfect beer for when you pop open that grill after a long winter and want to enjoy the outdoors.

Story:

Like its namesake, poison ivy, Poisy Ivon is well known for turning from its innocuous shade of green in summer, to a foreboding autumnus crimson come September. Growing up in Connecticut as a child, our founder had some fateful interactions with what he called “Poisy Ivon” that often left him worse for wear, but never deterred him from enjoying his childhood outdoors.

Cedar Point Cider - Hard Cider - (Fall, Winter)

Description:

The Cedar Point Cider is a fall and early winter special (with limited availability in other seasons). The apples are picked and pressed at a local Shelton, CT farm. We spice the cider with cinnamon and nutmeg and add a touch of sweetening to make Christmas on your tongue. There is no comparison: we are the best and refuse to hear otherwise.

Story:

After a day spent sailing around the Connecticut coastline, crack open this hard cider as you watch the sun set. Aptly named after the Westport sailing club known for its competitive racing and frostbite seasons, this cider is a versatile favorite. Refreshing & crisp for a late summer night, or warm & cozy by an autumn bonfire, this cider is seaworthy in any season.

The Equalizer - West Coast Double IPA - (Year-Round)

Gnome Brew - New England IPA - (Year-Round)

Description:

The Equalizer much like its name is supposed to sit your a$$ back in your seat. The West Coast IPA is known for its bitter taste profile while having a completely different background taste from the New England IPA. While the NEIPA has a noted full flavor due to its citrus hops, this beer is more derived off of a crisp, piney flavor. This beer really lets the hops and alcohol content work its magic.

Story:

Boom. Bang. Thud. When the Gnome brothers were still navigating adolescence, the youngest chose a frying pan as his tool of justice to resolve the incessant fighting. Clanging the oldest in his good old noggin, the middle child escaped his sweet release to freedom. From then on, the vigilante Gnome brother became the Equalizer of the family. Like his trusty frying pan, this West Coast Double IPA will knock you out with its high alcohol content and intense hoppy flavor.

Description:

Gnome Brew is a traditional New England IPA in many ways. It has the patented hazy look to it that all NEIPA’s possess. It is high in alcohol content and while it contains many of the typical citrus flavors like its predecessors, we add certain hops that give it more of a lemon flavor.

Story:

Mischievously devious and wickedly handsome, our little Gnome is always the life of the party. Sharing more than one similarity with our bearded founder, don’t be deceived by the lack of stature as this beer’s personality really packs a punch. With a high alcohol content and strong citrus hops, you will be well on your way to your mischievous night! Please gnome responsibly.

Krankenwagen - German Lager - (Year-Round)

Description:

Introducing our authentic German Lager; meticulously brewed with premium German malt. We have carefully infused it with the renowned German hop, Hallertau Hersbrucker, which imparts a delightful spicy finish. Savor the harmonious blend of time-honored ingredients in every refreshing sip of this exceptional Lager, a tribute to the heritage of German brewing excellence.

Story:

KRANKENWAGEN: originGerman; an ambulance

From Kranke ("patient") + -n- + Wagen ("car")

With a spicy finish that would get any sirens going, this zippy German ambulance will bring some color to your cheeks! While we couldn't drink to soothe our wounds as young gnomes heading to the hospital, the KRANKENWAGEN now heals all our ailments. Don't forget to pull out your newfound German at the next party.
